Last year I created 100 art versions of my “note to self” messages I write on my typewriter and share on instagram and Facebook. It was prompted by The 100 day project that is championed by Elle Luna online.
This year I decided to go even bigger and tackle a project idea that I had been afraid to dive into for the last 1-2 years. I have had a vision for mixed media / textile / embroidery wall hangings for ages, but kept putting it off because it felt overwhelming and “what if I cannot make them as good in real life as they are in my head and sketchbook?”
I am glad that I did not give in to the negative voices this year and that I shared weeks in advance on Instagram that I was diving into this project. Nothing works as well for me as public accountability. As soon as I say I will do something to thousands of people online I am motivated to deliver.
I am only a week into the project and am IN LOVE with the process and the products. They are even better than I imagined and I am excited to see where they go as I get bolder in my materials and learn how to work better with my sewing machine (as usual some of the things I want to do are well outside my skill set so I need to learn first!)
Here are the first 8 soulful wall hangings. If you want to follow along I share them each day on the ICD Instagram account and elaborate on the short soulful messages on each one. I am using the hashtag #100soulfulwallhangings so you can see them all in one place.
What are you working on these days? What is firing you up and making you excited to create? What is inspiring you?
Love and light,
