Welcome to the first link up for The Creativity Tree where we will celebrate all branches of creativity. Come here each Friday to share, encourage, connect and inspire (and be inspired). Full details here.
This week got off to a rocky start for me as I felt a bit low and my confidence started free falling. I reached into my bag of tricks for creative self care and countered a gummy bear binge with some drawing, some crochet and finally some art journaling.
I often forget about the power of letting loose in my journal, but every time I do it helps me in many ways.
I loved everything about this spread – the fiery colour palette at the start totally worked for me as I laid down paint.
Then I let myself go for the first time and really just played and layered and explored what happens when I do x, y or z. I am still a beginner art journalist and forever get caught up in the need for it to be “art” when really I am seeking “play” and clarity or inspiration.
I came back the next day to add the journaling. I had already been writing about this topic (life is messy) for next Monday’s newsletter and it turned out to be freeing to scribble my thoughts here. It actually helped with some of my self confidence and going-after-your-dream overwhelm I was drowning in.
Do you art journal? Are you free when you create or do you have to fight to break out?
I cannot wait to see what you have to share this week the link up will stay open until Sunday night Brisbane time each week so we have the whole weekend to connect (or link up if you are running late or prefer to post on the weekend)

love and light
